You start to smile. But then all of a sudden you get sad. You are happy for your friend’s wedding. But then all of a sudden you cry without any reasons. Is that good? You start wondering if that’s even normal. You begin to worry for no reasons. Apparently, you begin worrying about your health. Finally, you start looking for ways on how to deal with anxiety and mood swings!

You feel that the change in your behavior abruptly is absolutely normal. You don’t even realize that some kind of medical attention is needed. But an anxious person has high risks of having mood swings. In fact, mood swings are one of the symptoms of an anxious person. How do you think these imbalances occur in a human?

What causes mood swings and anxiety?

Generally, more severe mood swings and anxiety have a variety of causes, most likely ones are:

1. Imbalances in the hormones.

For some, anxiety may be something that has been there over years! Your brain is responsible for the way your body reacts and the way you think. Thinking too much is very tiring and troublesome. Generally one takes a lot of time to take a certain decision. No wonders that even before one decides on something and after one has decided, one thinks way too much. This is not good news for someone’s emotional well being. One gets stuck in a situation for a long amount of time. Focusing only on the brain’s thinkings can cause one to zone out of the surroundings. Not being emotionally available can be detrimental to your relationships as well.

3. Mental Fatigue.

When you are anxious, you anticipate so much that your mind starts to lose focus on everything else. This is so tiresome that sometimes, people are unable to handle it anymore. People start worrying and they can barely contain their discomfort. Some people get so tired dealing with the anxiety that they start getting depressed and emotionally blacked out as soon as they realize that the symptoms of mood swings.

4. Fear.

Fear is a very powerful emotion. It gets a human into defensive mode. Of course, everybody hates to acknowledge that they will die someday sooner or later. As soon as one gets involved in a fearful situation, the body starts to respond act emotionally in response to that fear. The constant exposure to fear thus creates such a negative vibe around you that the person starts to feel sad, angry and consumed all the time.

How to Deal with Anxiety and Mood Swings?

Nobody can control what amount of serotonin gets transmitted. But one can absolutely create an environment to stimulate the happy hormones more and more. But emotions are very hard to control. Even if you have a very happy and jolly surrounding, you can feel left out. At some point, you might feel that nobody understands your state of mind and that leads to depression. Nobody can stop emotions. But one can definitely minimize the response to those emotions. Here are a few pointers on how to deal with anxiety and mood swings.

  • Learn to analyze the situation.

    If you get upset in a particular situation, just stop whatever you are doing. Instead, analyze what caused you to be upset in that situation. It’s better if you start writing them down and try to find the roots of what made you upset in that very situation.

  • Ditch some situations for good.

    It takes fractions of milliseconds to react to a particular emotion. So if you feel like you are about to have a mood swing, just see whether you can leave the situation and shift your mind to something else. Avoiding the situation ensures that you don’t immediately react to whatever you are about to do.

  • List out the negative people in your life.

    Yes, you read it right. The people you surround yourself with have a lot of influence on how you feel and behave. Sometimes, you need to list the negative influencers and just cut them off your daily lives. It helps a lot. In the meantime, make sure that you are not a negative influence on somebody inside your circle either!

  • Cultivate gratitude.

    I know it’s very tough to thank people for their kindness. But hey, you ought to be thankful for the few things happening around you as well. Don’t let the humanity inside you die. If you really want to deal with anxiety, start being good to yourself and the surrounding. That’s important.

  • Learn to empathize.

    On a positive note, if you start looking at the world through other people’s perspective, you will soon realize that it’s not only you but everyone else has their own luggage of problems, worries, and share of happiness. Learn how they tend to manage their lives. Maybe you’ll find a way to manage yours as well!

  • Meditate. Ahh! This one.

    This is the perfect tool you need to keep your mind intact. Through meditation, you can pretty much learn how to deal with anxiety and mood swings. It takes a lot of time to master meditation practices but the end results are very rewarding.

  • Eat organic.

    Chemicals never do good for your body. Even the medicines people take harm to the body in one way or the other. If one needs to stay mentally positive, the body needs to co-operate and stay fit as well. Start eating organic food. Avoid vegetables and food grown using chemicals and pesticides. This eventually will lead you to live longer and with fewer side effects on your body and mind.

  • Start Yoga.

    Exercising not only keeps the body fit but it increases the flow of blood to the brains as well. Which means that the brain is more active. The imbalances in the hormones will slowly decline and your body will start regulating in a proper manner. The more your brain grows neuronal connections, the better it is for you. Yoga drops down the stress hormones and increases the production of happy hormones. This, in turn, results in life towards happy days.

  • Drink herbal/green tea and lots of water.

    Herbs almost have no side effect in your body if the intake proportions are calculated appropriately. Water being the natural solvent is an essential nutrient that boosts your immunity and keeps your brain functioning.

  • Walk.

    A daily walk of at least 30 minutes is recommended for everyone of all age. Doing this will activate your muscles and tone it on a regular basis including the brain. Walking is also connected with the brain observing new things as they are passed by. This constant activation of the brain will thus help to relax and divert one’s thinking from negativity.

  • Take wellness supplements.

    As the world is being polluted day by day, the food we intake isn’t as healthy as they used to be a hundred years ago. As a result, both our body and mind are affected very badly.
